Honest Review on the 2024 Beta 200 Race Edition

I finally got to test out a newer Beta 200! I have spent the last couple years on a four stroke and I have been itched to get my hands on a two stroke again! I finally decided to dive back in and test out a two stroke. To first make sure I liked the bike, I rode it completely stock and tried to focus on the engine characteristics. I was super impressed. It had a strong hit off of the bottom and had great top speed as well. The 200 can be ridden on the pipe and it is also luggable. Since my first impressions were liking the bike, I decided to get it set up to race! First thing I did was send my suspension off to JDP in Ohio. He turned it around ridiculously quick! After that we tore the bike to the frame. We installed a race wire harness to remove all the extra wires and components we don’t need. Next thing we did was install a Samco hose kit to delete the thermostat. We added wire tie to a couple things, greased bearings, Loctite important components, anti-seize bolts, and changed out the stock brake fluid to liquid gold (Castrol Brake Fluid). The last thing we did was install guards; Bullet Proof Designs radiator guards and rear disc guard, Eline By AXP Skid plate, BRP chain block, Flexx Bars, Countershox, Enduro Engineering flags, Bib Mousses, and Dunlop tires. After doing all of this, it was time to do some final testing before the first race. With a couple turns on clickers, my JDP suspension felt fantastic. The bike stays straight and is predicable. I adjusted to the bike pretty quick, In one race and 2 days of trail riding, I put 9 hours on the bike. The more I rode it the better it felt and I put it through the test. Hard packed Missouri dirt, creek bottoms, sand tracks, massive moon rocks, hard enduro, turn and burn trails…. It performed better than I could ask for no matter what I asked of it. I felt like I could do more things on this bike than I could on any other. The bottom line is, this bike can do anything you ask of it with very little work to set it up. 10/10 on looks, 10/10 on performance, 10/10 on FUN!

2023 Beta 300 Race Edition Review

We hosted a Beta demo day in early December. It was a grand opportunity to test out the new 2023 Beta 300 Race Edition! Updates to the 2023 3 hundo Race Edition include: KYB REAR SHOCK ! – This is HUGE. Slimmer radiator shrouds – Gives the bike a sleeker look and improves aerodynamics. Slightly different cylinder, head, and power valve than the standard RR. This provides more compression and power. We rode this bike completely stock, exactly how it comes off of the showroom floor. My first impression was how GOOD the stock suspension was. The KYB shock is phenomenal. I have been riding Beta’s for the last 7 years and I can personally say with a few clicker adjustments the stock suspension is great. I would feel completely comfortable going straight to a race on it. The power was snappy and pulled great out of corners. It wanted to be ridden hard but still keeps true to Beta’s “Rideability” . I can’t write a review without talking about how beautiful Beta’s are. Every year, they find a way to give it that “DAMN” factor. Please excuse me while I wipe off my drool. Every year Beta continues to fine-tune and improve their bikes. Everyone here at the dealership is super impressed with the entire 2023 lineup.

Beta 200 vs Beta 250 – What is your pick?

Beta 200 vs Beta 250 – What is your pick? So, stoked to finally test out a Beta 200! Back in 2019, Beta released the 200 and in 2021 they offer a 200 RR and Race Edition. It has been a massive hit and we have not been able to keep it on the floor for more than 24 hours. I tested out the 2019 200 in mostly stock form. It had a few guards, fat grips, and a FMF Turbine Core silencer. Like I said, basically a stock bike. Since the 250 Race Edition has been my bike of choice for the last 3 years, I wanted to compare the two. My bike is set up for me and my personal preference. A few things that are MUSTS for me: Fasst Company Flexx Bars, ARC levers, ODI EMIG lock on grips, Fasst Company Impact Pegs, FMF Fatty, and Rekluse clutch. Another over looked item; getting your suspension set up for your weight and riding ability along with setting the sag. Stock 200 vs my personal set up race bike – made it interesting but I ignored those preferred things when riding it. First thought after lap 1 – “THIS BIKE IS SICK!” Literally so much fun. It reminds me of my 125 but on steroids. Unlike the 125, it does have awesome lugging capabilities when you need it. It also requires less shifting than the 125 and is more forgiving. It does not have to be rode hard to go. The power is smooth and controllable. The weight difference between the 200 and 250 is very noticeable. I felt like it was easier to get the front end up and it wanted to float. In a good way, like bounce in the correct ways. I felt fast on it but did not get to push it as hard as I wanted. Suspension was a too soft. I am going to put my ’18 race edition forks and shock on it and spend more time on it. I got off the bike with a BIG smile! I hopped on my 250 with the thought of it will be hard to beat the fun factor of the 200. It has been a little bit since I have ridden my ’20 250 and man, I forgot how dang good that bike is! Super-duper smooth power delivery. Crisp and really spot on in general. It is the best bike I have ever had and the best looking! I can corner my 250 better than the 200 but I think it could be a combination of tires and suspension. (ADD PHOTO) Final thoughts, BOTH are really good bikes. Depends on what you are after. I shift less on my 250 than I do on the 200. The sound of the 200 makes me feel like I am riding the shit out of it, which boosts my confidence. The lighter weight helped me get more air on the jumps I was hitting. Not that it is important for a woods rider, but keep in mind moto skills cross with woods skills. The 200 would be awesome in tighter technical terrain and the 250 would shine in open terrain. Both have their place and I can’t pick which one is better. THEY ARE AMAZING! I intend to make a few personal preference changes to the 200 to get a better feel for it. More Posts Back To Blog Page

2020 Beta 250 Race Edition VS 2020 Sherco 250 SE Factory Review

2020 Beta 250 Race Edition VS 2020 Sherco 250 SE Factory Review How about this Spring weather? Dad and I took advantage of primo dirt this past weekend to test a 2020 Beta 250 Race Edition and a 2020 Sherco 250 SE Factory back to back. The 2020 Beta 250 Race Edition is my new race bike. So, it is set up for me! The suspension has the proper springs for my weight, lowered an inch, and tuned by Jim at Shock Zone Suspension. Beta Race Editions come with KYB forks and a Sachs rear shock. Other things I feel like I must have on all my bikes are Fasst Company Flexx Bars, ODI Emig grips, ARC Levers, Rekluse Radius CX Clutch, FMF Fatty and FMF Silencer. The Beta comes equipped with a great set of tires, Metzler Six Days. I have already worn them out and put on my favorite tires, Bridgestone M59 on the front and Dunlop MX33 on the rear. Also, have Bib Mousse’s in both. Pretty much this bike is set up for what I feel is necessary for me! The 2020 Sherco 250 SE Factory has been strictly a demo bike. The suspension was tuned by Jim at Shock Zone Suspension and has the stock springs in it. The Factory models are equipped with KYB forks and shock. This bike is mostly in stock form. It has XC Gear Mako 360 bar mounts, wide foot pegs, and guards on it. We put a Bridgestone M59 on the front with a Bib Mousse and a Shinko Cheater on the rear with a Bib Mousse. From the factory, Sherco comes with a FMF header, cooling fan, Dunlop tires, solid rear disc rotor, and Brembo brakes. MSRP – Beta 250 Race Edition $9,099 MSRP – Beta 300 Race Edition $9,499 MSRP – Sherco 250 SE Factory $9,799 MSRP – Sherco 300 SE Factory $9,899 Some background information – I am 5’2” and 120lbs. My dad is 6’ and 180lbs. I hopped on the Sherco first. I wanted to ensure I had an open mind and did not want to have any preconceived notions by riding the new Beta first. Sherco is taller than a Beta and a lot taller than my bike. I rely on my balance but sometimes that’s not good enough lol. The geometry of the bike is quite a bit different than a Beta. I feel like I am up high and on top of the Sherco instead of down in. I do not notice it near as much between the new Beta and the new Sherco but the Sherco does feel tall. The power was extremely smooth. I was kinda shocked. The Sherco is not counterbalanced. The higher up in the RPM’s the more of the two-stroke power band hit and the more radical it got, still controllable without a doubt. Power delivery is great though. The clutch worked amazing and is a bit more forgiving than other brands. I usually run a Rekluse clutch in all my bikes but I would not need one in a Sherco, the clutch works that good. Overall, I was impressed with the Sherco engine. Next up the Beta. I haven’t ridden this bike in a month and definitely forgot about how much power it has! Beta made a lot of changes to the 2020 250/300’s, adding a counter-balanced engine and changing the frame. The geometry of the bike is completely different but really suits me well. It keeps me up on the tank easier than other bikes or even older Beta’s. I can corner the bike better than any other and overall feel good doing anything on it. The power of the Beta is Super Smooth and continues to be smooth higher up in the RPM’s. It is pretty crazy; you don’t realize how fast you are going. The suspension is amazing. I have always felt like my Sachs closed cartridge forks (used on Beta Race Editions in previous years) have worked great but the KYB’s are working even better for me. All in all, I was super impressed with both bikes. I truly believe anyone would be ecstatic about either bike! My dad, Steve, thought both bikes performed exceptional. The suspension on the Beta was on the softer side (it is set up for me) but other than that it handled well and the power is smooth. The Sherco suited him better but he could without a doubt rip both the Beta and Sherco. The taller feel of the Sherco along with the power delivery worked amazing. Steve also agreed both bikes were smooth and not a ton of difference between the two, power wise. Both bikes have amazing lugging capabilities, it is not always about going fast. Tight trees, technical creeks, and huge logs put the 250’s to the test, both handled incredible, along with the low end power making it not feel like there was too much to handle Now it is up to you, what is your pick?
